You will need:
Ham
Water
Bay Leaf (optional)
Salt & Pepper
4 qt kettle
Roughly 2.5 hrs of prep and prepare
Cook's Note:
During the last 1/2 hour, the soup thickens and can easily scorch unless the heat is quite low & is stirred occasionally. Serve topped with crusty croutons.
Variations:
Replace ham with bacon or pork sausage, browned and well drained. For a cream soup, add milk or cream to taste before serving.
