For more than four decades, Don Vitko of Minot, North Dakota, collected cacti and succulents from around the world, amassing more than 4,000 different species and 6,500 plants, making it the largest private collection in the world. In 2009, Don Vitko gave his collection to the International Peace Garden. Hens and Chicks tells his inspiring story and shows over 220 full color images from the collection, including some of the rarest cacti in the world.
